Save the date emails are generally thought of as too informal, though you may have already informed some of your closer associates this way it’s probably best to go ahead and send them one. You can pick a design that’s fun and provides just a reminder for people to write the date of your upcoming wedding in their calendars, or you can pick something that is formal and printed on delicate lacy paper. The design choices are almost unlimited. However, these invites can be the way people expect your wedding is going to be, so if you’re having a nice casual wedding on the beach you might want to consider taking the time to look into a more casual save the date card so that people know what type of wedding they’re going to be attending. Often people buy their clothing and things before they even receive the actual invitation. If you are, however, having a very formal affair, you’ll want to make your invitation just as formal, you will be giving your friends and family a heads up that you’re likely going to expect black tie wardrobe and give them more time to plan accordingly.
